CANDI

€2,600.00

Candi are the ancient stone temples that rise from the Balinese landscape tiered, stepped, reaching upward in precise geometric increments. This dresser is a direct homage. The cornice is the centrepiece: a dramatic five-step pyramid crown carved from solid mahogany and finished in deep ebonised black, with a hand-carved sunburst fan inlay at its centre. It is not applied or assembled from parts. It is carved from a single block. A skilled carver takes two full days to complete each one. Below the cornice, six deep drawers sit in two columns of three. Each drawer front is framed by a recessed panel border, a detail borrowed from the proportional language of Art Deco cabinetry, and fitted with a solid brushed brass bar handle.
